Aww networking
Thanks to NaomiCanBlog I’ve made friends with people in some very high, high places. Take for example, this email I received in my NaomiCanBlog inbox from a classy brod named Miss SIL-via (that’s capital SIL, lowercase via). I can’t wait to ‘move forward’ and ‘get to know you the more’ either girly, which I assume means me securely exchanging my much...
Lights
My commitment to Old Navy continues. Sad but true, I love the song in their new commercial The last thing on your mind. Anybody who goes by the name of ‘Lights’ and poses in fake tv’s with badass headbands is fine by me. Bonus: sister’s from Canada.
Rome pics
I uploaded the pics from Rome on Flickr, check them out here.
Naomi Can Vacation!

Great Idea
Finally! Children books dealing with plastic surgery. I was wondering when some genius (Dr. Michael Salzhauer) was going to start feeding the overwhelming demand of elementary school children everywhere. In a poll conducted in the land of gumdrops and fairies, children ages 4-7 claim the one thing absolutely missing in their academics is more cartoon reads on how to deal with mommy’s...
Our strong bands
Research has shown that FHS alum love email chains. Like LOVE email chains. Maybe it’s the excitement of a google notification that you have YET another email from Kelly Herr. Maybe it’s the obnoxiousness that ensues when people come together where it matters most, on an email chain. Maybe it’s the fear that you’re being called out on something horribly atrocious you did...
This just in! Boring jobs result in boredom
…claims researchers from the National Academy of Sciences. According to the report ‘monotonous duties switch our brain to rest mode whether we like it or not.’ Based on patterns in our brain activity, researchers found that that mistakes can be predicted up to 30 seconds before we make them. This obviously causes some alarm for individuals working in ‘critical...
Sonic Slang in USA Today
At work there’s a lot of blog love to give. Sooo big ups to Jeffy Jeff Cambron, also known as King of the Blogosphere for his blog Sonic Slang being mentioned in USA Today. Sonic Slang covers MP3s, reviews, and industry news. For the record Jeffy Jeff’s top pick of ‘07 was Heidi Montag’s smash hit ‘Body Language’ which showcases pure musical talent wrapped up...
Save the Bees dammit
Eating ice cream is not only good for you, it’s good for the environment. That’s right you eco-maniacs- Haagen Dazs has teamed up with Help the Honey Bees to raise awareness and donate money in support of honey bee and sustainable pollination research programs. Each time you buy one of H.D’s bee-dependable flavors they’ll donate some cash to the cause. Although I...

Motown Phil is back again
In celebration of the good weather I decided to include some of my favorite ‘driving to JMU in my fancy ass PTA mom station wagon’ music mix. My pick? Motown badasses Chairmen of the Board’s hit single, Give Me Just a Little More Time. Let it be known this jammy jam is best covered by Richie Rich Hirabayashi when he’s cooking and/or en route to a family beach vacay...

Exciting News!
Well ladies and gents, it’s official! Alli Tom Tomson and I have just become true New York City dwellers. Last night while taking in the cinematic magic that is Tyler Perry’s Diary of a Mad Black Woman (if you haven’t seen it, see it) Alli spotted our newest roomate, an elusive mouse that has yet to be rediscovered. This of course means he’s either in my room, in...
Contact me will ya!
blaaghhhhh. I remember way way back in the old day’s (late 90’s) when I was just another poor kid on the block rocking a word processor. I didn’t have a computer growing up, my main form of communication was my landline (remember those??) and I called my friends instead of im’d them. Well now I’m in NYC and try as hard as I can to present myself as a super cool...

Random art by West Covina Buddhist Temple students made for Dharma students at Nishi and Higashi Temples in NYC. A personal favorite is Michael Jitosho’s message of interconnectedness “we all live in the same world.”
Roof.
To celebrate the warm weather we had a straight-faced Subway/Ray Ban photoshoot competition on the roof over lunch. The gentleman in blue giving the camera the bird is our dear HR man David Weller. Go Team!

Sketches on site mean you're deep
Many times non-subject based blogs post amazingly hip notes on underground news going on in this great world or ours. The editor of the blog proves they are the thought leader in cool, providing tips to music, movies, and events that you the lowly and ill informed reader haven’t even heard of yet. But being unique and special is a really odd concept which is why many times I discuss...
Thanks for being an awkwardly large desk with...
Big news, the cubicle turns 40 today! And what a humbling 40 years it’s been. What better way to start your day then to awkwardly slide your chair into a 90 degree angle of desk? Managing life in a cubicle is a serious assignment. Cube inhabiters do this by transforming the gray squishy wall that blurs their vision with it’s bland existence into a palette for creativity....
Red Hair Boy Wonder proves there's more to him...
Clay Aiken. What can I say? Every time I see that pretentious smirk in some media photo here or there, I want to slap it off his sweet freckled face. But somehow, someway I always manage to come back. Maybe it’s the teaser of his 3 buttons unbuttoned on his 8 buttoned button down shirt. Maybe it’s the necklaces that bear a dangerous resemblance to chokers I wore in 8th grade. Maybe...

Give a Damn
I love when people bring it back to the basics. We’re over-inundated with politico manifestos of benevolence and benignancy- aka good. But for the down and dirty orgs involved in a cause, they toss in the convoluted jargon in exchange for actionable words. Like the non-profit Do Something, GOOD Magazine keeps it simple in title, illustrating perfectly the mission statement. By definition,...

Get Happy
John and I were walking by Barnes and Noble last night and spotted this odd book display. Note “Depression for Dummies” right next to Bridge, PCs, and Investing for Dummies. Pretty bold move by the Dummies crowd. Not only are you really sad and disliked by all, you’re a huge dumbass too. That’ll definitely get the motivational juices flowing!

Let it go Bernnan
A tip from Alli Tom Tomson: Bernnan McKunney is paying RNL Bio $150,000 to clone her dead pitbull Booger using ear tissue a biotech firm preserved before dear old Boogs kicked the bucket 18 months ago. Cho Seong-Ryul of RNL Bio states if commericial canine clonging continues “the cost of cloning a dog may come down to less than $50,000.” Call me old fashioned, but I was under the...

Babies having babies
Thong Dee’s pregnancy has sparked a lot of controversy at Sydney’s Zoo. Many are concerned the nine-year-old Asian elephant is way too young to be pregnant, and Sydney’s Zoo’s parenting skills are being called into question. Erica Martin of the International Fund for Animal Welfare even called the Zoo “irresponsible” for letting this happen, stating captive...
World's Smallest Bodybuilder
A tip from my buddy Jimmy Wells the Guinness Book of Records named Aditya “Romeo” Dev the world’s smallest bodybuilder. Romeo who stands at just 2ft, 9in has been causing a huge stir in his hometown of Phagwara, India. “Since I started working out I have become famous for my strength,” he said, adding, “My size has never stopped me.” Rock on Romeo.
