Thong Dee’s pregnancy has sparked a lot of controversy at Sydney’s Zoo. Many are concerned the nine-year-old Asian elephant is way too young to be pregnant, and Sydney’s Zoo’s parenting skills are being called into question.

Erica Martin of the International Fund for Animal Welfare even called the Zoo “irresponsible” for letting this happen, stating captive breeds should typically be at least 11 years old before conceiving.

I guess when the Syndey Zoo was working 2 jobs trying to provide for it’s pride and joy, Dee was throwing parties in the basement, pounding wine coolers and illiciting attention from older male elephants to satisfy her daddy issues.

If all goes well, Dee will be the first elephant to become pregnant while in captivity in Australia.
