Give a Damn
I love when people bring it back to the basics. We’re over-inundated with politico manifestos of benevolence and benignancy- aka good. But for the down and dirty orgs involved in a cause, they toss in the convoluted jargon in exchange for actionable words. Like the non-profit Do Something, GOOD Magazine keeps it simple in title, illustrating perfectly the mission statement.
By definition, GOOD is “media for people who give a damn.”
“We see a growing number of people tied together not by age, career, background or circumstance, but by a shared interest. This resolves around a passion for potential mixed with fierce pragmatism and creative engagement…While so much of today’s media is taking up our space, dumbing us down and impending our productivity, GOOD exists to add value.”
GASP. Media/Marketing can do good. Like Change.org, GOOD is a platform for ideas, bringing together people who choose to care and prove so through action. For all the cynicism in the world, there is no denying that altruism is real, evident in the utilization of online media exposing millions of people who do in fact give a damn.
Who’d a thunk?
